Homelessness, More Common Than You Think
River Rouge Schools provides assistance to identified homeless families and unaccompanied youth. The federal No Child Left Behind Act emphasizes the McKinney Vento Homeless Assistance Act as an integral part in aiding students and families in these situations to prevent academic failure and promote success through graduation.

Technology
The Board of Education adopted the proposed 2009-2012 Technology Plan at the regularly scheduled board meeting on March 4, 2009. The district submitted the Technology Plan to the State of Michigan, where it was approved.

Title I
2011-2012 Transfer Option
The School District of the City of River Rouge is required by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) to offer parents of students enrolled in Ann Visger K-5 Preparatory Academy and River Rouge High School the option to transfer their child to another school that is not identified for school improvement, corrective action, or restructuring under NCLB. Our district currently does not have any internal transfer options to meet this requirement. As required by law, the School District of the City of River Rouge pursued cooperative transfer agreements with nearby districts, but none were able to enter into such an arrangement with us this school year.
